What inspired you to join the Macomb County NAACP? "As an international human rights advocate and United Nations Fellow, I joined the NAACP not only because of the legacy of its work to advance civil and human rights here at home, but also its historic work at the international level as well. The NAACP was one of the forty-two original organizations appointed by the U.S. State Department under the direction of President Harry S. Truman to advise the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations Conference on International Organization (UNCIO) from April - June 1945. This conference was attended by 50 allied nations, including the United States, and resulted in the finalization and signing of the United Nations Charter (June 26, 1945) - creating the United Nations. At the end of World War II and at one of the most historic moments in world history, the NAACP was at the table.
In the years since the formation of the United Nations, the NAACP has been a strong advocate at the United Nations on behalf of African Americans and all people of color here at home, including through a historic petition submitted to the UN in 1947 by our Co-Founder Dr. W.E.B. Dubois. The NAACP has also officially recognized the United Nations International Decade for People of African Descent.
I am a proud member of the NAACP, and I am proud to work alongside fellow members to ensure civil and human rights protections for Black people and all people of color in the United States."

Policies need to be changed, people in power need to be held accountable, and our communities need to be restored. I take pride in not only continuing a family legacy by being an active member, but I know that there is power in numbers and there is work to be done."

Interests: I am very interested in civil rights and human rights, especially in regard to public education. Recently I have become more involved in advocating for marginalized groups of students and teachers in public schools, fighting to preserve and enhance the free, excellent education that is promised.
What inspired you to join the Macomb County NAACP? "With the nation-wide effort by extremists to get rid of books and curriculum that are diverse and historically robust, I have made it my mission to stand up and fight to preserve diversity and equity for our children. I know that NAACP feels strongly about this as well, so I wanted to team up and work together, to become part of the NAACP."
"As Educational Committee Chair, I will seek to eliminate any discriminatory practices in public education, study conditions affecting minority groups in education, investigate school zoning, become aware of any textbook material that might be racially derogatory, encourage school attendance and parent involvement, keep informed of school conditions, and investigate standard testing practices, making sure every aspect is aligned with the work of NAACP."
